When you click on the above links, a PHP script will use file_get_contents() to pull the source code for the selected link. The returned content will display below the notes or you will see an error after a five second timeout. It would timeout after 30 seconds but I’ve shortened the timeout for the sake of easier testing.
The page content on each of the above URLs is publicly available and contains empty XML (WSDL) content. When you click the link, it gets copied to your clipboard so you can paste it into a the address bar in a new tab. When you do, you’ll be able to see the same data that should display below upon success.
This little exercise is intended to demonstrate how I think my hosting account or possibly a server setting that I can’t override, is blocking me from pulling data from some URLs while letting others through. You’ll find that the first URL to promostandards.ssactivewear.com returns data while ws.sanmar.com link is blocked and times out after five seconds. The sanmar URL is not the only endpoint I can’t reach and ssactivewear is not the only endpoint I can reach from this website. I’m just using them as examples for the purposes of this demonstration. As far as I can tell, the blocked URLs are random but the blockage is consistent.
